The graph shows us some information about the number of farms and farm workers in the U.S for the period 1910-2000.
All the way through, the number of workers was bigger than the number of farms. At the beginning of the period 1910, there were nearly 14 million workers, twice the number of farms which was 6 million. The number of farms gently increased over the next 20 years, while the number of workers fell slightly. In 1970, the number of farms fell to about a half of the number of workers. Also, in this year both the number of farms and the number of workers fell dramatically. In 1980, the information shows that the number of workers and farms stayed steady and decreased gradually until 2000.
All in all, the statistics show the number of farms fell from over 6 million to just over 2 million. Moreover, with the growth of development the fall in the number of workers was more rapid, from over 13 million to just 3 million.
